Walter Schnackenberg was born as the son of the mayor Johann Friedrich Schnackenberg in Bad Lauterburg / Harz.

He spent his youth in Hanover.

his paintings are removed from the exhibition walls by the National Socialists.

The poster artist Schnackenberg remains untouched.
